The other night I got home from the store with my two new bottles of Stags Leap Chardonnay when I realized I couldn’t pop them open yet because they weren’t cold. UGHHH! This got me thinking about using frozen fruit to cool down or to keep cold your wine.
There are so many reasons to give this a try: First off, being an instant gratification culture we want our wine when we want it and don’t have time to wait for it to cool down (duh)! Throw it in the fridge or wrap a wet paper towel around it and stick it in the freezer for 30 mins?! Nope. Sorry, my patience ran out just talking about it. Second, it can seriously add some flavor at a minimal cost. My FAVORITE Chardonnay is $62!!!!!! So because I can’t afford to drink that nearly as often as I would like…I buy the cheaper stuff. What better way to add some flavor to a cheapy wine that you don’t really even care for?Lastly, if hosting a party, adding frozen fruit to beverages makes everything prettier :-D.
Anyways, here are some from frozen fruit + wine combos I have personally tried and loved….
& strawberries –
Perhaps one of my favorite wine + frozen fruit combo is champagne and strawberries.
The strawberries lend a TINY bit of its flavor but more importantly they keep the
champagne cold MUCH longer. Does anyone like warm champagne?! Blah!
