If I am being extremely honest with you I am not a HUGE Pinot Noir fan. When picking up a bottle at the store or ordering a glass at a restaurant a Pinot Noir is never what I reach for. We all have our varietals that we tend to stick with, right?! Well Pinot Noir ain’t mine! But when the opportunity arose to try a new (for me) Pinot Noir I jumped at it. Why? Because I really want to widen my repertoire of wines that I love and am very knowledgeable on. Here steps in Cultivate Pinot Noir. Being that I am from California and typically LOVE LOVE LOVE California wines I was happy to learn that this Pinot Noir was what many deem as a “perfect California Pinot Noir”. What better place to start on my Pinot Noir journey, right?
Sourced from California’s three coolest growing regions this Pinot opens on the nose with some yummy smelling strawberries, raspberries, and oranges (yep, oranges!). Is your mouth watering yet? Because mine was. Like all reds, I let this wine open up and breath a bit in order to get those darker, richer scents and flavors that I look for in red wines. With my first few sips got an abundance of bright, red fruits. Here lies my usual problem with Pinot’s…I rarely get an ABUNDANCE of flavor. I know that is likely just MY palette, and not yours, but that is what usually lacks for me. However, that was certainly not the case with this Pinot as it was full of flavors! During my last few sips I got something other than fruit. I cannot pin point it exactly but the best way I can describe it is flavors of rich tea. Ripe, red fruits and rich tea sound like an odd mixture, huh? But I assure you it came together perfectly!
Cheers, Pinot Lovers
Thank you, Cultivate Wines to opening my eyes to the delicious world of Pinot’s. I truly cannot wait to try more and see what I have been missing out on all this time. P.S. Did I mention that 10% of all proceeds go to an adopted school? Love it!
