The other day I did a wine tasting of California Chardonnay’s at The Cellar. This gave me some inspiration to share with you my 3 favorite California Chardonnay’s right now. My tastes in wine are forever changing. So keep in mind while reading this that currently I am loving BIG, OAKY, BUTTERY Chardonnay’s. My current top 3 Chardonnay’s are all at different price ranges so hopefully there is something here for you.
My Current 3 Fav’s
1. Pacific Grove – I have shared my love for this one with you guys before (here) & it still holds true. I am OBSESSED with this Chardonnay. Drink it closer to room temperature and you are bound to get big oaky flavors. It is a bit unrefined, but at $5.99 you cannot beat it. PLEASE give this wine a try. So worth it, I promise.
2. Rombauer – The Rombauer Chardonnay is known among CA Wine Lovers as thee butteriest Chardonnay possible. From the world renowned Carneros district in Napa Valley, this Chardonnay is one that everyone has to try at least once simply because you will never try another wine that is as big and buttery as this. For $35.00, it is worth a try. You can buy it directly from them here or at pretty much every grocery store.
3. White Rock Vineyards Reserve Chardonnay – Ok, ok I talk about this Napa Valley winery way too much (here), but seriously, they are that great. THEIR RESERVE CHARDONNAY IS TO DIE FOR! It is the perfect combination of oak, butter, fruity and floral flavors. They get this beautiful combo by processing half of the grapes through melalactic fermentation (the process that gives you that oaky, buttery flavor) and the other half not. At $62, I save it for special occasions. Or in today’s case…on Wednesday’s because now that I am talking about it my mouth is watering and I have to have it.
Share with me some of your favorite California Chardonnay’s! I’d love to try them.
